VR Outside a Headset
Enables visitors to explore perceptual power of motion parallax and occlusion enabled by precise head tracking. This effect is key to all high-end VR headsets. In collaboration with Quatrefoil.
Visitors assemble and disassemble magnetic snap-together components into a fully-functional six degrees of freedom (6 DoF) high-end VR headset, exploring how different sensors, tracking, displays and lenses combine to make cutting-edge virtual reality.
Based on the first stereoscope (invented in 1838) right and left eye images from a VR simulation are exposed at large scale. Social interaction around the phenomenon and inquiry-based learning explorations are inviting and easy.
